Overview
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a significant upgrade from last year’s Pixel Fold, featuring a slimmer design, brighter displays, and a stronger hinge. It’s powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip, offering improved performance and AI capabilities. The phone is ideal for those interested in AI features, entertainment, and photography, but it may fall short for users seeking advanced multitasking or external display connectivity. For that, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 might be a better (though pricier) option.
Design
Google has refined the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, making it taller and narrower for a more traditional phone feel. It’s lighter and easier to hold compared to last year’s model, with a sturdier hinge that now opens flat to 180 degrees. The external body is made from recycled aluminum, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for added durability.
Displays
The external display is larger at 6.3 inches, and the internal display has been expanded to 8 inches, making it one of the largest among foldable phones. Both screens are brighter and have improved contrast, making outdoor use and video viewing much better.
Performance
Equipped with the Tensor G4 chip and 16GB of RAM, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold handles daily tasks with ease and performs well in gaming and media streaming. Battery life has slightly improved but remains average for a foldable phone.
Cameras
The camera setup is versatile, with a 48MP main sensor, 10.5MP ultra-wide, and 10.8MP telephoto lens, along with good selfie options. Photo quality is excellent in most conditions, and the phone supports 4K video recording.
Battery and Connectivity
Despite a slightly smaller battery than its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold delivers better battery performance, lasting around 11 hours in tests. It supports faster 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.3 for improved connectivity.
