The global IT outage has caused significant disruptions for several Scottish Premier League football clubs, affecting ticket sales and club stores.

Affected Clubs

– Celtic: The club has postponed ticket sales for the men’s season opener against Kilmarnock and halted sales of women’s season tickets. A message on their social media reads, “Due to a global third-party system outage, some online services, including our ticketing platform, are experiencing interruptions today. We are closely monitoring the situation and have postponed online ticket sales for the 2024/25 season opener. The ability to purchase women’s season tickets is also affected. We will update fans in due course and apologize for any inconvenience.”

– Hearts: The club can process some online sales but has halted transactions at their ticket office and club store. “We’re currently having some issues with our ticket office because of a global Microsoft outage. We really appreciate your patience while we sort this out!”. No in-store transactions can be completed at present. Online transactions are being processed slowly. Clubstore can process card payments in-store, but the success of these transactions may depend on your banking provider. Cash sales can be accommodated without issue. We apologize for any inconvenience, but this is entirely beyond our control. Updates will follow in due course.”

– Hibernian: Hibernian is facing similar issues. An online notice states, “A major IT outage is currently affecting our ticket center at Easter Road and our online ticketing site. As a result, the general sale of tickets for the St Mirren (A) match is delayed. Stay tuned for another update, which we’ll share with you as soon as we can.”

– Scottish Rugby: The team informed supporters that women’s season ticket sales are affected. They stated, “Due to a global IT issue, today’s planned sale of the 2024/25 women’s season ticket has been postponed. We will contact supporters as soon as a revised sale date is confirmed.”

Broader Impact

The outage has affected banks, airlines, media companies, councils, supermarkets, and railway services worldwide. Microsoft is actively working to resolve the issue.

Fans and customers of the affected clubs are advised to stay updated through official channels and prepare for potential delays and interruptions.
