The upcoming iPhone SE from Apple might get an OLED upgrade. These rumors, along with other recent ones, make the iPhone SE 4 seem more like a legitimate alternative to Apple’s flagship phones than ever before. The fourth generation of the iPhone SE might feature an OLED screen, according to a new rumor from its supply chain. The company has started ordering OLED screens from both BOE and LG Display to equip the phone, according to Nikkei Asia.

For over a year, there have been rumors that Apple might move its cheapest phones away from LCD technology, but the Nikkei report suggests that Apple is preparing to release a new iPhone SE within a few months. Apple could start producing the phones next month in preparation for a launch in early 2025, according to MacRumors. Regardless of the display technology, the iPhone SE is expected to have the iPhone 14’s body with — and I’m really sorry to say this, as an iPhone Mini fan — a 6.1-inch screen. It might also use Face ID instead of Touch ID and could have an Action Button. It’s also likely to feature just one camera, much like previous SE models.

The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to support Apple’s AI. This might be the most significant rumor. It suggests that the device will be more capable than the iPhone 15, which doesn’t have Apple’s on-device multimodal AI for several reasons, including the fact that it only has 6GB of RAM.
