The new Galaxy S25 leak suggests exclusive use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. According to a South Korean media outlet, Samsung might exclusively use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC in the Galaxy S25 series. Initially, the Exynos 2500, which was supposed to power it, might debut in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 later in 2025. The Samsung Galaxy S25 trio, launching in 2025, will, like the Galaxy S23 series, exclusively run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This information comes from the South Korean media outlet Hankyung and a post on the Blind forum, a Reddit-like forum for the professional community.

Unfortunately, the report doesn’t dive into why Samsung is skipping the Exynos 2500 processor, but it does reaffirm industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s earlier speculations from this year. Apparently, Samsung still plans to use a 3-nanometer AP in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 next year. Considering this in the company’s latest financial report, it’s clear that Samsung hasn’t abandoned it yet.

While many will be relieved at the prospect of Samsung returning entirely to Qualcomm, one can’t help but wonder where the Exynos 2500 fell short. The chip was produced not too long ago, but it might have been delayed due to low yields in Samsung’s 3GAP process, which, despite Samsung’s efforts, may not have improved.

Previous leaks, some dating back over a year, touted the Exynos 2500 as Samsung’s big comeback in the mobile AP market. Internally, it was dubbed the “Dream Chip” and seemed to have been redesigned from the ground up after the dismal performance of the Exynos 990 and Exynos 2200.
